We have a new version of Plotagon Studio today, v. 1.4.1 for Mac and Windows. In addition to the usual assortment of incredible new content from our Art team, this version has a few notable enhancements:
Selected scenes now have “extras,” non-speaking background characters in selected scenes. Look for multiple character silhouettes on the red banner. You can turn these extras on or off within the Plot User Interface.
Also, you can now download new scenes and clothing as soon as we release them without having to wait for a new version of the application. That means more content, more often.
Color me #FFC0CB
Now you can put your character or avatar on a custom background color of your choice in our Character Creator. Choose from several preset options (including plain white and a green screen), or type in a color hex code.
We also have redesigned the Settings Screen, which you can reach by clicking on the gear icon at the top-right corner of the application. Users will find a link there to manage their Acapela voices and download new ones that they have purchased.
If you already have a Plotagon Studio license, then this is a free upgrade. If you haven’t yet tried it for yourself, then visit our Get Studio page to purchase a license and experience the Plotagon magic for yourself!
As always, please drop us a line to let us know what you think.
Give voice to your characters
January 4, 2018
This is our most exciting update yet. Thanks to our new partnership with the Acapela Group, you can be a one-person movie studio.
When you download the free upgrade to Plotagon Studio v. 1.3.2 for Mac or Windows, you will receive two American English voices (Rod and Karen) as well as two other voices from a language or accent of your choice: American, British, or Australian English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish.
Experience what your movies will sound like with the new voices.
Play it again, in French!
See how Acapela creates its voices.
You can even get your characters to laugh, cry, breath, or cough with exclamations and sound effects. Simply type the appropriate code (e.g., #LAUGH01#) into the dialogue and hit play. Visit the Acapela Group’s website and select your character’s voice to see all the available commands.
If you want more than the standard four voices, then we have bundles of American, British, and Australian English voices, as well as French voices for sale in our online store. Over the coming weeks we will add bundles of voices in more languages as well.
To see all the voices on your account, click the Settings button (the gear icon at the top right) and then the Voices button (the speech bubble icon at the top right of the Settings page). There you can Install your purchased voices. When you create your characters, you will see the new options.
If you already have a Plotagon Studio license, then get the latest version (1.3.2) to experience the new voices, and also to enjoy even more content — now with over 150 scenes!
Last but not least, hear the voices audition for the role of Plotagon spokesperson.
Manage your users and passwords
December 18, 2017
Manage Your Users
Great news! Plotagon Studio users can now use our Admin tool to check the status of their accounts, manage users, and update passwords. To get started, visit the Admin site and log in using your Plotagon Studio username and password (the same ones you use to access the application).
Here you will see a summary of your company account, including the expiration date. If you have purchased multiple user licenses for your organization, then you can see how many seats remain and add your user accounts on this screen:
Note that we have two different access levels: Administrators and Moderators. Administrators can add, delete, and change passwords for other users. Moderators can only manage their own accounts.
The Admin site also offers a handy password reset function: If you have forgotten your password, click Forgot password? and we will email you an alphanumeric code. You can then log in and change your password to something you will remember easily when logging in to the application.
New Collaboration Tools!
September 5, 2017
One of the best things about Plotagon Studio is its versatility: It’s perfect for creating marketing, internal training, and customer relations and outreach videos (among many other things), which means organizations can use the same software product across a range of departments to create new content.
Now there’s another great reason to put Plotagon Studio in the hands of more team members: With the newest Plotagon Studio release, you and your colleagues can collaborate on movies, or even make new versions and translations altogether.
The Plot User Interface now includes two movie export options: Render video (to save an MP4 file of your finished movie) and Export plot, which allows you to save your movie with a .plot file extension. The .plot file even includes the voice recordings and any characters that you have created using the character creator.
Then you can share your Plotagon movie with a colleague via email, a shared drive, Dropbox, or whatever your preferred secure method may be. Your colleague can then click the Import plot button to add the movie and any new characters.
Now you can work with a colleague to enhance the same film, record new dialogue, or even create a new version or translate it into another language.
Export script to PDF
We know the situation: You’re so inspired that you write an entire original script inside the Plotagon application, and now you have to get others to either approve the script or send you voice recordings. No problem! Simply press the PDF button to save the script as a PDF file. Then you will have a visual record of the script that you can send to clients for their approval or to voiceover actors so they can record and send you individual dialogue clips. Like any good screenplay, the exported file includes each character’s emotion and location within each new scene.
Get the new features
Be sure to download the latest version (1.2.4) for Mac or Windows and also enjoy new content and advanced camera controls in even more scenes.
Now is the time to take advantage of our introductory pricing to get additional licenses for your team members!
As always, please email us if you have any questions about how these features can help you get the most out of your Plotagon license.
Put up to four characters in the same scene in Plotagon Studio 1.1.2!
July 13, 2017
Here’s a special surprise for Plotagon Studio customers: advanced camera controls that will change the way you make movies with Plotagon.
One of the most-requested features in Plotagon Story and Plotagon Education has been to have more than two characters in a scene. There are a number of technical reasons why this has always been in place. For one thing, with only two characters in a scene, the Plotagon application automatically knows where characters should look (at each other) and how to set up the shot-reverse-shot camera angles over each character’s shoulder. Also, each scene begins with a wide establishing shot that shows that there are only one or two people in the room. Together, these have helped make Plotagon easy enough for anyone to use.
But thanks to our new camera controls, we have an equally easy way to expand the cast of every scene. Now you can remove the establishing shot simply by clicking the camera icon next to each scene and selecting “camera is skipping establishing shot”:
By turning it off, you can cut between two scenes, each on different sides of the same location, without interruption.
Simply cut from this . . .
. . . to this . . .
. . . and then you will show four characters in the same room! This feature is available in every one of our 130+ scenes.
The new Plotagon Studio 1.1.2 release also includes our first set of advanced camera controls! These allow you to zoom, pan, and set up your camera in a host of new ways to make your films shine. Because this is a new feature, we are implementing it scene-by-scene. You can find the full list of scenes with advanced camera controls in the Release Notes section of our Tech Specs page.
There are some new example Plots that come with the new version of the application. Make sure you download the latest version (1.1.2) and try it for yourself!
